Fundraising for Albany Great Strides 2026

Hello friend.
My youngest grandson, Chase, was diagnosed with CF in 2016 after a newborn screening and further testing. Our family was devasted not knowing what the future would hold for him, and whether he would even have a future to look forward to. We were told that CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Our family started our Great Strides team, Chase for a Cure and began walking and raising funds towards finding a cure for CF. While ten years later there is still no cure, there IS hope. Research and innovation have created medications that has literally breathed new life into people with CF. Trikafta is a medication that has changed the trajectory of people's lives who are affected by CF and given all of us in the CF community the hope that a cure is not far off. But, the miracle drug that is Trikafta does not help everyone with CF so we must continue raising funds for research and genetic break throughs so everyone affected can live longer, healthier lives despite their genetics. Our family strongly believes that a cure will be found during Chase's lifetime, but it will not happen unless we press on in our fundraising. The CF Foundation takes our fundraising and puts it towards research, innovation, therapies, and care for people with CF. Please help us in our mission to find and fund a cure.
There are still too many people with CF that die young and I’m walking to help change that reality. Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
