I’ve said it 1000 times but Declan is the bravest person I know. Through every doctor appointment (and we’ve had so so many) to every blood test he has always found a reason and a way to not only smile himself but to inflict joy into everyone he encounters. His story started in a NICU with major intestinal surgery hours after he was born. We can never thank the neonatal surgeons at Albany medical center enough for saving our son. A month later we finally came home and found a routine. And while that routine looks a bit different than the other babies we know…it’s ours. Our family changed the day declan was born, and not just because we brought another child into the mix…he showed us that as long as we are together we can overcome anything….so let’s stand behind Declan in this fight to find a cure for CF because just because we can fight this disease…doesn’t mean we should have to.
