Hi Friends and Family,
We are gearing up for this year’s Great Strides. We hope you will consider joining us in our pursuit to find a cure for CF. We also love giving you an update on Joey and his health. He has continued to have a great year. Starting on the JV football team as a safety, he helped his team immensely. One of the highlights was an interception that ended the game in a win. He then earned a spot on the SPHS Swim Team helping his team make it to States in the 400 yd Free Relay. And now he has been named Captain of his JV lacrosse team. These successes make us so proud because we know how much he works each day to stay healthy. Trikafta has helped him so much, including keeping the necessary weight to be so successful. He has become more independent with his treatments knowing he has to do them in the morning and evening, while sometimes adding an afterschool session if he is has increased symptoms. He’s also taken on washing his numerous therapy parts himself which is a whole other side of his treatment regiment —and to do so safely and hygienically for a teenager takes discipline. It takes a lot of time for a sophomore in high-school but with his time-management skills, his attention to detail, and prioritization of health he makes it possible. Having the support of this community and you too gives him the extra lift to do it well and make you proud. Thanks for your continued support! We fight for better CF meds to be available for when CF rears its ugly head as a progressive condition and for all those that don’t have access to the meds that are available now.
Much love and thanks,
Jenny and Fred
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. I’m walking to help change that reality.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
