My Great Strides Story
Fundraising for Annapolis Great Strides 2026
Rachael Wiker
Mallory and Camden are finishing their first year of high school and doing incredibly well (and getting ready to drive!). Some days it’s easy to forget they have CF, but the daily reality is still there with twice-daily breathing treatments, lots of medications, and illnesses that hit them harder than most kids.
What’s changed is that we no longer live with the constant hospital stays, ER visits, surgeries, and fear that defined so much of their early childhood. That transformation has been because of Trikafta, a life-changing medication made possible through CF research funded by donations like yours.
But not everyone with CF can benefit from Trikafta. About 10% of people with CF have mutations the drug doesn’t treat, and others can’t tolerate the side effects. That’s why we continue to walk and raise money, so every person with CF has the chance to live a longer, healthier life.
There is still incredible hope ahead. Researchers are making progress in gene editing and gene therapy, bringing us closer than ever to treatments that could one day lead to a cure.
Please join Team Twin Triumph on June 6 or consider making a donation to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Every dollar goes directly toward research and patient programs as we work to make CF stand for Cure Found.
The walk is held at Navy Stadium in Annapolis starting at 10:30am and is a very family friendly morning with a short walk around the stadium and lots of free food, drinks and fun. It's always our kids' favorite day of the year, and Mallory and Camden love to have their family and friends there!
