My Great Strides Story

Fundraising for Annapolis Great Strides 2026
Laura Gordon
Dear Friends and Family aka Team Feets,
We have a lot to be thankful for in 2026. The Annapolis Great Strides Walk is Saturday June 6th and we hope you will join us for the most important day of the year for our family. A Team Feets t-shirt will be waiting for you!!
This year we are grateful, proud, scared and hopeful all at the same time.
Let’s start with gratitude. We are beyond grateful for all of you that have supported us since our very first walk in 2001. This is the 25th Anniversary of Team Feets and thanks to all of you we will celebrate:
We are extremely proud of Austin and his determination to fight back the progression of this disease. The last several years have been extremely challenging for him. Between hospitalizations, the heavy burden of daily treatments and the mental health strain of constantly battling this disease, it’s been a difficult time. But, Austin has been committed to putting in the hard work and is clawing lung function back 1% at a time. Today he is healthier and stronger than he was two years ago.
It is heartbreaking and scary to watch your child fight for the ability to just breathe. Every cough brings worry and every hospitalization brings fear. That’s not fair to Austin because that means additional emotional weight for him to bear. Steve, Kate and I often struggle to manage the fear.
We are hopeful for the scientific breakthroughs being made every day. The CFF drug development pipeline currently has 7 genetic therapies in clinical trials. If just one of these are successful, it will be a life-changing moment for Austin. That science brings hope and drives our passion.
Together we are helping to fund the research that will change Austin’s future lead to a CURE. Whether or not you are joining us in person, we hope you will consider making a donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Thank you again for helping us to make CF Stand for Cure Found
With much love and gratitude,
Steve, Laura, Austin and Kate
