Join Us in Fighting for a Brighter Future for Arlo, Grace’s nephew and cousin of Elianna and Imani.
This year, we are supporting Arlo and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at the Baltimore Great Strides walk on May 15th, and we would love for you to join us! Join our team and walk with us at the Maryland Zoo or consider making a small donation to support this fight.
Arlo's Journey: Arlo is now 4.5 years old, and this year has been a breath of fresh air compared to his earlier years with cystic fibrosis. He has been thriving—staying healthy and avoiding major illnesses. Arlo attends a part-time nature preschool, where he explores the outdoors, plays with friends, and continues to grow in so many ways. We’ve watched his physical health, stamina, creativity, and social-emotional skills flourish, and we couldn’t be more grateful to see him happy and thriving.
Beyond school, Arlo has had an incredible year. He’s learned to ski, riding the chairlift and making his way down green runs at Eldora Ski Area. He’s also mastered his two-wheel bike and loves taking his dog for walks while cruising in his Power Wheels "Jeep." His social skills have grown tremendously, helping him build meaningful friendships both in and out of school.
The Reality of cystic fibrosis: While Arlo’s progress has been amazing, the reality is that cystic fibrosis is still a part of his daily life. Every day, he takes six medications and several CF-specific supplements. He spends an hour (or more, if he’s sick) doing breathing treatments with his nebulizer and compression vest. Every three months, he undergoes a full-day clinic visit, seeing multiple specialists to monitor his condition.
Why Your Support Matters: Every donation, regardless of size, is an investment in Arlo’s future. Advances in modern medicine have already transformed the quality and length of life for those with cystic fibrosis—and continued research is bringing even more hope. Exciting breakthroughs, including gene-editing therapies, are on the horizon, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is leading the way in making these treatments a reality.
Thank you for being part of Arlo’s journey. We are deeply grateful for your support through donation, spreading awareness, or simply walking by our side.
