Hello family and friends!
I hope 2025 is going well so far for all of you! We are looking ahead to this year’s Cystic Fibrosis Great Strides walk which will take place at Island Park in Williamsville on Sunday, May 18th. We would love to have you come walk with us and celebrate all the progress that has been made in the last year in the fight against CF!
My dear friend KC has been a woman on the move this past year! She currently serves as Chair of the National CFF Board, the first individual living with CF to hold this position. In addition to board meetings, KC travels all over the world to meet with doctors, researchers, CF families, donors and advocates in cities across the US and other countries. KC’s inspiring perseverance and success give so many others in the CF community great optimism for the future.
In addition to serving in her role as board chair, KC is also coaching high school lacrosse, working as an assistant professor at UPenn in their Applied Positive Psychology program, and living an incredibly busy life with her husband Justin and their son Mac who is currently a senior in high school! Between May 2023 and June 2024, KC was on 12 different antibiotics. It was a challenging and stressful stretch for KC and her family. Since last June, however, KC hasn’t been on any antibiotics!
Even on the good days, the hard reality of Cystic Fibrosis is that it is a progressive disease. My work as Outreach chair of the WNY CFF Board has allowed me to meet so many families in our local community who have loved ones battling CF. Hearing their stories about life-changing drugs, the incredible Lung Care center team, successful lung transplants and more fuels the fire for us to keep working and raising money until CF stands for Cure Found!
Please consider joining us to walk on Sunday, May 18th in Williamsville! If you aren’t able to walk with us, we would be very grateful for any donation you’d like to make to our Friends of KC team. Thank you for being a part of our efforts each year to fund research, treatments and ultimately find a cure for CF. How amazing will it be, when a cure is officially found, for us all to say we were a part of the effort that got the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation across the finish line?!
With gratitude, Liza
