My Great Strides Story

Fundraising for Central Illinois Great Strides 2026
Linda Pfister
Hello,
This year the Central Illinois Great Strides Walk will be Saturday, October 3rd at 10:00 starting at Peoria Heights Tower Park.
I raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation each year in memory of my precious niece Kelsey Zimmerman who passed away in 2000 at the age of 3 1/2 from complications of CF. AND in honor of my great nephew Theo Zimmerman who also has CF. He is 7 years old and going into 2nd grade. He was diagnosed soon after birth. Theo was hospitalized several times his first four years because of his CF. He started taking a new medication, Trikafta, 3 years ago when it was approved to be used for his CF mutation for his age. Earlier this year tests revealed Theo's liver function is low so they took him off the Trikafta for now. We are praying his liver function will improve so he can get back on this important medication. We are thankful he has not been hospitalized since starting it.
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. I’m raising funds to help change that reality.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
Thanks,
Linda Pfister
