My Xtreme Hike Story
Fundraising for Central New York Xtreme Hike
Sydney Reichart
Exploring the outdoors has always been the greatest outlet for me in overcoming Cystic Fibrosis. Skiing, hiking, swimming, and traveling have been great sources of motivation, even when I was on the verge of needing a lung transplant 6 years ago. I was desperate to explore the world like every other young person and accomplish great things. It kept me fighting for my life to see and experience more, even when I had very little left.
This year, I’ve decided to tackle a new challenge by joining the CF Extreme Hike. I’ll be climbing one of the beautiful Adirondak High Peaks in upstate New York as part of Team Sydney, raising funds to help find a cure for CF. Now more than ever, we need to continue to fundraise and develop new medications for those who are unable to take current modulators, as well as treatments for those who don’t respond to them. Many CF patients, myself included, continue to battle persistent bacterial infections and other complications associated with cystic fibrosis. There is lots of work still to be done!
If you’re unable to join the hike, a donation in honor of Team Sydney is deeply appreciated. Let’s get out there and do this thing, until CF stands for CURE FOUND!
