My Sisters Both live with this disease. I have been hiking with the Xtreme Hike for 7 years now and since then I have seen the difference first hand the research has made. My sisters had life expectancies in their 20's when they were born. Today they are both woman in their 40's and thriving. The job isn't done yet though, there is no cure and having my sisters grow old and grey would be the most amazing gift. They both have small children now, those children deserve a chance to have their moms be here to see them grow up. Every dollar counts and the CF foundation is dedicated to finding a cure. Help us shatter the expectations that this is a terminal disease. Cure it with me, I will do the hard work to earn your donations. I will climb those mountains year after year until we end this.
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. I’m hiking to help change that reality.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
