CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.

No CF patient's journey is anything close to "normal," and Dean's is no exception. Dean especially struggled early in life, with frequent visits to the clinic and hospital, a particularly uncommon set of mutations, some uncertainty in the diagnosis, and plenty more ups and downs along the way.

However after his diagnosis, and thanks to some truly amazing work by the Cincinnati Children's CF research and clinical teams, Dean was approved for Kalydeco (off-label), which fundamentally improved his life almost immediately.

Many years later, we're extremely fortunate that Dean continues to thrive as a result of these amazing treatments. However there are still many CF patients who aren't as fortunate to be eligible for or respond to existing drugs consistently.

Continued fundraising for the CF Foundation through amazing events like Great Strides are the key to enabling additional research for treatments to help more and more patients bravely fighting through this awful disease.

Please donate to help make CF stand for "Cure Found!!"
