My Great Strides Story
Fundraising for Cleveland Great Strides
Sara Mansbach-Bentley
On December 20, 2017, my sorority sister and dear friend Heather Knotts passed away due to complications from cystic fibrosis. Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections, digestive issues, and decreases the ability to breathe over time. Although there are currently treatments available to prolong the lives of those with CF, there is no cure.
Heather was a spunky, sassy, intelligent, caring woman. Throughout our friendship, I witnessed Heather battle CF with astonishing fierceness and courageousness. In Heather’s honor, I am participating in the Great Strides 5k, a fundraising event put on by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to help increase awareness about the disease and raise money to help support research efforts. The event will be taking place on May 17th at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Please consider supporting me as I participate in this 5k to honor Heather and work towards a future without cystic fibrosis. Any donation, no matter how small or how large, would be immensely appreciated!
