My Great Strides Story
Fundraising for Cleveland Great Strides 2026
Elise von Gunten
Hi!
I'm Elise, a 34-year-old living with cystic fibrosis.
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis, and far too many people with CF still die young. I’m walking in this year’s Great Strides to help change that reality for all of us.
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. It makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While real progress has been made, a long road still lies ahead; especially for those of us who don’t benefit from current modulator treatments. Because of my specific mutations, I am not eligible for the existing CFTR modulators, so I am one of many CFers who continue to rely on the hope of new research and future therapies.
We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
