My Great Strides Story

Fundraising for Columbia Great Strides
Jennifer Coleman
Happy 2025!! We hope this message finds you and your family well. It is that Great Strides walk time. We will be walking April 26, 2025 at a new location - gathering to walk towards a cure at:
Cayce Riverwalk – Timmerman Trail, 1120 Fort Congaree Trail, Cayce, SC 29033
Check-in will be at 9am and the CFF Great Strides walk will begin at 10am (a 3 mile walk). We hope you can come out and walk with us and/or contribute to our fundraising efforts.
Riley is now 23 years old, has a wonderful girlfriend, Daniela, who is a pharmacist from Colombia South America. Riley visited Colombia this past Christmas/New Year and had a wonderful time with her and her family. He will be returning to visit her this May and then in August she will be coming to the US for a visit. Riley continues his path to become a Spanish teacher and is doing well in all his studies at The University of South Carolina. He has remained healthy but has developed pre-diabetes (a type called CFRD - Cystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes). This type of diabetes is common in people with CF as CF affects the pancreas as well as the lungs and other organs. He takes insulin when necessary and wears a Dexcom G7 monitoring device.
There is currently no cure for Cystic Fibrosis but years of fundraising and research have opened the doors to better and better treatments, extending the lives of many with CF. By donating to our fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
Thank you so much for supporting us as we continue to push forward to support Riley and the rest of the CF community. We are forever grateful for your contributions, love, and support.
