Travelin' Ts
The Travelin Ts is a team formed to fight alongside CFer Travis Hammock. Travis has officially entered his 30s as of January of 2025. He spends his free time staying active working out, playing soccer, line dancing, visiting Disney and Universal and serving at his local church Action Church. Travis resides in Orlando, Florida with his partner in crime Buddy. Buddy is his 8 year old Australian Cattle dog.
Travis' health has been fairly stable over the last year. Although the genetic modifiers have been a huge health at maintaining stable health, they have come with some unfortunate side effects. Travis continues to deal with consistent kidney stones and low blood sugar. These may not be the best trade offs, but Travis stays positive as these side effects still allow him to stay active and maintain his baseline PFTs around 60FEV.
The support of amazing friends and family is what has allowed Travis and many other CFers to live a life they never thought imaginable. Research continues to progress and at the end of 2024, Vertex released a new variation of the genetic modulator, Alyftrek. Travis recently had a visit with his CF provider to discuss, but given the mixed feelings about the new drug and Travis' current state, it was decided to wait to see how feedback is on the drug prior to trialing it in his daily routine. Fingers crossed the changes to this drug may even help with the kidney stone and blood sugar side effects Travis is currently dealing with.
More importantly than the drugs, the support system is a huge piece in the success of Travis' battle with CF. Without the emotional, physical and financial support, research would not have progressed, and the emotional toll that CF has on people is tough, for all involved. So, The Travelin' Ts thanks you for your support and we look forward to another successful year of striding to make CF stand for Cure Found!
