My Great Strides Story

Cystic Fibrosis is a progressive, genetic disease that affects primarily the lungs, but also other organs such as the pancreas and liver. Due to a protein malfunction, people with CF produce thick, sticky mucus that can build up in the lungs like cement. With the inability to excrete it properly, this leads to infections and inflammation, causing scarring on the lungs. There are approximately 70,000 people worldwide and nearly 40,000 people across the United States living with Cystic Fibrosis. Over the last few years, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation had made HUGE strides with research to provide treatments that improve the lives of those living with CF.
Raising awareness is very important to me and that is why we have started the Great Strides team Lungs N Katie's Roses!
