We found out shortly after our 2 year old son Jackson was born that he had cystic fibrosis. We were in shock, and overwhelmed at all of the information we had to learn.

CF is a genetic disease that affects the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure. It can also lead to digestive issues and struggles with growth due to difficulties absorbing fat.

While a lot of what we learned about CF initially was overwhelming and scary, we soon learned about all of the advancements that have been made with treatment options, including modulator medications such as Trikafta that help improve the function of the affected protein and help the body work as if it doesn't have CF. Jackson qualified to start taking these medications when he turned 1, and so far he has been an incredibly healthy boy with excellent growth and even started to see improvement in the function of his pancreas.

Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.

Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?

By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward - a cure for Jackson, and for everyone with CF.
