It's Great Strides season once again! I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your continued support over the years, which has been instrumental in the tremendous progress made by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
As you may know, cystic fibrosis has been my passion since I was ten years old, when I met my dear friend Tressa. She lost her battle with CF during our freshman year of high school—her life cut far too short, a reality that continues to drive me today.
When I began working at the CF Foundation in 1998, I met the Villalobos family and their daughter, Allison. We formed an immediate bond and have since developed a meaningful friendship. Allison's journey has seen many ups and downs, particularly over the past five years. Last year, I shared that 2023 had been especially challenging for her. While 2024 showed some improvement with "only" four hospital stays throughout the year, unfortunately, Trikafta—the breakthrough treatment that has transformed lives for many with CF—has not been the miracle drug for Allison that it has been for others.
This is precisely why we must continue our fundraising efforts.
There are still many people like Allison who need different modulators or alternative treatments because the current options haven't worked for them. WE NEED A CURE!
Your generous support will help fund critical research that can develop the cure Allison and thousands like her so desperately need and deserve. Every dollar brings us closer to a world where CF stands for "Cure Found."
Will you join me in this year's Great Strides campaign with a donation? Together, we can make a difference for Allison and everyone living with cystic fibrosis.
Until It's Done,
Amy
