In 2022, our lives changed forever when our daughter, Merritt, was born. Shortly after we brought her home, we received a call no parent expects: her newborn screening flagged a risk for cystic fibrosis. Additional testing confirmed the diagnosis. In those early days, our hearts were full of both joy and worry — trying to understand what life with CF would mean for her future.

Cystic fibrosis is a genetic, progressive disease that affects the lungs, digestive system, and many other parts of the body. It requires daily treatments, medications, and constant vigilance. But it has also shown us a level of resilience and strength in such a tiny human that continues to amaze us every day.

Why We Walk

We walk because:

• We want a future where CF doesn’t stand in Merritt’s way.

• We believe that kids like Merritt deserve long, healthy lives filled with possibility.

• The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is driving real progress — from groundbreaking therapies to life-extending research — and we’ve seen firsthand the incredible hope that brings.

Today, children with CF are living longer and fuller lives than ever before. But we’re not done. Not until every person with CF has a cure.
