My CF Cycle for Life Story
Patricia Geeding
Fundraising for 15th Annual Florida Cycle for Life
Patricia Geeding
CF touched me personally as most of you know. There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. I'm cycling to help change that reality. Becca didn't have an opportunity to benefit from the new medications that have been created these past few years. Her life was cut short at 22, but so many others are living longer and stronger due to our fundraising efforts.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure. Rebecca was well on her way to lung transplantation in 2008 but was also terrified it wouldn't be successful and wouldn't make her life any easier. Medication started early can alleviate this anxiety of transplant by starting at the cell level of correction.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.

I can say that since becoming a respiratory therapist in 2005 the number of CF patients that need "tune-ups" has dwindled significantly. This is such a reward for our efforts! Friends and family have supported our team through all the tough times and we hope to continue to fight until CF stands for Cure Found!!
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward - a cure for everyone with CF.
