Hello Friends, Family and Supporters! I’m excited to be hiking again to support those living with cystic fibrosis and continued research! On Sept 19, I'll be covering 30.1 miles on the Appalachian Trail in western NC. I'll be joined by about 50-60 hikers as we cover this distance in one day. This will be my 7th hike and your support of this effort has been truly amazing and humbling! Together we have raised over $30,000…Thank you so much!
This cause and these CF Fighters have meant so much to me both personally and professionally for many years. The Xtreme hike has been an incredible way to help and stay connected. Growing up, my dad's best friend had a son my age that courageously battled cystic fibrosis. Michael is my inspiration each year as I train and complete the hike. A highlight is my FaceTime with his dad during the hike. In my career I've worked for a company that developed medicines for CF patients and I interacted with many doctors, nurses, families and patients. Much progress has been made, but there is much more to do. If you’re reading this, please reach out so I can tell you more.
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. I’m hiking to help change that reality.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
