Dear Family, Friends, and Neighbors,
It is that time of year to lace up our sneakers for the Great Strides Walk to cure Cystic Fibrosis. As most of you know, our niece Colleen Crowley was diagnosed with CF in infancy. That was almost 29 years ago, and we have walked as "Colleen's Crew" ever since. The walk will be held at Baker Park in Frederick, MD on Sunday, May 18th at noon by the bandshell. We would love to see you there!
Colleen is now living in New Jersey and working as a social worker in a hospital setting. We miss seeing her as often but are grateful she is just a 3-hour drive away. Each year we are so grateful to report that Colleen enjoys good health, despite some daily challenges. She is blessed to be one of 85-90% of "CFers" that have benefited from the drug Trikafta, which treats the mutations that cause CF, improving lung function, slowing the progression of the disease and allowing people with CF to live longer lives. Trikafta and other game changing drugs and treatments for CF are discovered through the relentless efforts of the CF Foundation and their work to progress care, accelerate innovative research, advance therapies, and find a cure for CF. Year after year, we continue to walk in Great Strides and fundraise with great hope that a cure will be discovered and that Colleen and others with CF will live longer, healthier lives. Others like Luke Green, a cousin born with CF in 2023. We ask for your help and thank you in advance for your generous support! Let's make CF stand for "Cure Found".
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
