There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis, I’m walking to help change that reality.

CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.

My brother, Scott, was diagnosed at age four and my family has fought this illness alongside him for the past 25 years. Scott is one of the most determined individuals I have ever met and I am so fortunate to be a part of his journey. I grew up watching him do his breathing treatments for hours everyday, I watched him take medications every time he wanted to eat food, I watched him fight through all of the illnesses that might not be a big deal to you and me but are much harder on CF damaged lungs.

Through this all, Scott never allowed this illness to define him, not even when our cousin passed away from CF complications at the age of 21. Scott and I went to UVA together, we had pizza every Friday and he watched me play in the marching band at all the football games. He continued onto law school where he earned his Juris Doctor and met his beautiful wife. They're both in Richmond area now practicing law and we play on a kickball every Wednesday (and get pizza and beer after).

All of this to say, I hope you will consider contributing to an organization that strives to ensure people like Scott continue living life to the fullest.
