This is my 12th year as Team leader for Team Reis.
Reis is my granddaughter and is a happy, healthy, young lady with boundless energy and enthusiasm. She has been one of the lucky ones to have been able to be on CFTR modulators since age 2 and is doing well, though she required a prolonged NICU stay and 2 surgeries at birth. Being able to start so early, we hope that she has a good chance of being spared many of the devastating effects of CF.
Unfortunately, there is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis. CFTR modulators were developed in the last 15 years, and many are helped to live healthy lives with these, but there are some who these medications do not work for. Continuing research is geared to finding a cure for everyone.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We walk to raise funds for continuing research for a cure for all.
