My Great Strides Story
William Maffucci
Fundraising for Gloucester County Great Strides
William Maffucci
If you're a past supporter of Greg's Brigade, you'll likely know that this isn't my CF story. It's our story -- a family story:
- a family whose world was abruptly transformed by Greg's diagnosis 37 years ago,
- a family whose members were willingly conscripted as fundraising foot soldiers for the CF Foundation,
- a family whose commitment to the cause has been reinvigorated each year by reports of astounding advances in the fight to extend and improve the lives of CF patients, and
- a family whose efforts will not wane until a complete cure has been found not just for Greg but for every person with CF.
One thing that has changed over the decades is the efficiency of the fundraising process. Although we will never regret investing literally thousands of hours raising money the old-fashioned way (especially through the golf tournament we ran for 25 years), the internet has made it possible to raise commensurate amounts through one simple and short appeal: this once-yearly solicitation of support for the Great Strides Walk.
