There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. With a grandson that has CF, that can be a scary thing. I am walking to raise money for a cure.
When Sue and I were married in 1972, she was a pediatric nurse; the life expectancy of a CF child was 12 years. In 2010, when Caleb was born, life expectancy had improved to about 37 years - we were excited about that number. Today, a child born has a life expectancy of 60+ years.
Research about "why" the improvement in life expectancy show improvements in these areas: breakthrough therapies, specialized care centers, improved antiobiotics and airway clearance techniques, nutritional support, patient advocacy and research funding, and genetic research.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has played a pivotal role in each of these areas. (If you are interested in the improvements and the story, pick up a copy of "Breath from Salt" - well worth the read.) The Great Strides Walk every year is our opportunity to participate, to raise money to support this cause.
The Sprinkle Family has been walking 14 years - this is the 15th. We'd love to have you come to Suwanee Town Center on May 17th if you are anywhere close to Suwanee, GA. It'll be a good time, food provided, games for the kids. Many who receive this e-mail have been supporting these 14 years - please know our family greatly appreciates the support. For others, it may be the first opportunity. Thanks for joining. Any amount goes a long way to improving the lives of these friends with CF!
Thanks for your support!!

Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
