My Great Strides Story
Fundraising for Atlanta Great Strides 2026
Lauren Carter
Avery’s journey with Cystic Fibrosis started when she was just ten days old… with an official diagnosis at three weeks old. Those early years were tough—filled with constant illnesses and hospital stays. But if you know Avery, you know she’s an absolute hurricane, in the best of ways. Today, at 7 years old, that sweet baby has grown into a child, who is thriving and living every day to the fullest.
The progress she has made in her lifetime has been nothing short of a miracle. When Avery was born, the life expectancy for someone with CF was 47. Today, because of the community’s support for the CF Foundation, she has access to Trikafta—a breakthrough medication that has extended her life expectancy to 70–80 years. I’m walking with Avery’s Army because we’ve seen firsthand that donations translate directly into more birthdays, more laughs, and more moments for Avery. Every dollar raised goes toward the research that keeps her breathing easy and brings us one step closer to a cure.
Please consider donating to help us ensure Avery—and everyone living with CF—can look forward to a long, full life.
Thank you for being part of Avery's story! ❤️
