My Great Strides Story
Fundraising for Atlanta Great Strides 2026
Samantha Gill
It took me eleven long years to get pregnant with Kaisley. Eleven years of waiting, hoping, praying, and learning how to live with unanswered questions. When she finally arrived, she wasn’t just a baby — she was proof that miracles don’t run on our timelines. She was my miracle all along.
At just ten days old, our world shifted again when Kaisley was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. The fear was immediate and overwhelming. No parent is ever prepared to hear words like that, especially after such a hard-fought journey just to bring their child into the world. From the very beginning, she faced more than most ever should — hospital stays, surgeries, treatments, and days that tested her strength and ours.
And yet, Kaisley continues to thrive.
She has grown into a light for so many, not in spite of cystic fibrosis, but alongside it. She has turned her journey into purpose, becoming an ambassador for the Georgia Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and currently serving as an ambassador for GT Smokies. In 2025, she was honored as the Young Philanthropist for our foundation — a title that reflects not just what she’s endured, but who she is.
Kaisley inspires people simply by being herself. She’s active, determined, and full of life — whether she’s on the softball field, playing basketball, or singing with a joy that fills every room she’s in. She doesn’t let her diagnosis define her limits. Instead, she shows the world what resilience, courage, and hope truly look like.
After everything she has faced, she still wakes up ready to live boldly and love deeply. She is my miracle baby, my reminder that even the hardest journeys can lead to the most extraordinary stories. And through her, so many others find strength, hope, and the courage to keep going.
While we celebrate how far she has come, the journey is not over. Cystic fibrosis still affects thousands of children and families every day, and a cure has yet to be found. Supporting research and advocacy gives families like ours hope — hope for better treatments, longer lives, and one day, a cure.
By donating, you are helping move us closer to that future. You are helping children like Kaisley continue to dream, thrive, and live life to its fullest. Together, we can turn hope into action and help make a cure possible.
