My connection to CF is very deep. In addition to earning a PhD in pharmacology at Emory University, where I studied cystic fibrosis-related diabetes, I am also married to Alex, a courageous man living with cystic fibrosis. When he was diagnosed as an infant in our home country of Paraguay, his parents were told that his chances of making it to adulthood were very slim. That was 31 years ago.
Today, we are married and have two wonderful sons. Alex also earned a PhD and works full time. He has truly defied the odds. However, throughout those 31 years, he has faced many challenges, the biggest being a double lung transplant in August 2025.
I continue to be amazed by his incredible dedication and resilience, especially during the transplant recovery process, which comes with its own set of challenges. We recognize that Alex would not be here without the scientific and medical advances made possible by organizations such as the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. We are deeply thankful for all the work they do to advance scientific discovery and improve patients' lives.
Please consider making a donation if you can.
Until CF stands for "Cure Found"!
Best,
Analía
