My Great Strides Story

Kaelii Boyer
Hi Everyone! Thank you for taking the time to read my story and your consideration and kindness to donate to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. My name is Kaelii and I have been a fighter of Cystic Fibrosis since I was 2 months old, a total of 31 years! The life expectancy for someone with CF was 18 when I was a young girl. Today, I am proud to say I have surpassed and almost doubled that expectancy. Life milestones such as getting married, graduating college, starting my dream job and having children always seemed like a dream or something that I would never be able to accomplish. I am proud to say today I am a mother to two loving daughters, Nora & Caroline, a loving wife to my husband Brady and have been a teacher for 9 years. Dreams DO come true!
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Five years ago I started the life-changing drug Trikafta that has changed my life and my health in so many ways. The years prior I was struggling to stay healthy. I had numerous PICC lines to fight off infections with antibiotic treatments and I was struggling to maintain a healthy weight. Ever since starting Trikafta those are all worries of the past. All of these life-changing moments are because of the generosity of people like you and the persistence and the drive of doctors and researchers.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
