Dear Friends & Family:
I have been committed for many years to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation which helps raise money to find a cure for cystic fibrosis (CF)—a life-threatening genetic disease. My sweet Daughter, Kaelii, has cystic fibrosis and our family is walking in her honor again this year to help find a cure.
Kaelii is now 32 years of age and is driven to succeed in life while maintaining stability with her health at the same time. Kaelii and her husband Brady now have two beautiful and healthy daughters, Nora (5) and Caroline (3). She is currently teaching 1st Grade at Clear Spring Elementary and is enjoying the impact she has on her students each day. This year she achieved an honor of becoming a Teacher of the Year Finalist. A testament to the hard work and dedication she strives to demonstrate each day. She continues to receive her care with the specialists at the Adult Clinic at Johns Hopkins Hospital. In December 2019, she was approved to start Trikafta, the newest and greatest drug advancement for CF. Her lungs and other organs in her body were instantly cleared of mucus giving her an amazing quality of life. She rarely ever coughs like she used to and is able to do everyday activities with ease. A few months ago, she switched to taking Alyftrek, the newest drug advancement which helps improve the overall quality of life. Since she started the new medications, she has had zero hospitalizations in almost 6 1/2 years. Her life has truly changed in the best way possible because of medical advancements and research. The median predicted age of survival for someone living with CF has increased by 18 years in the last decade, to 56 years old. With your support and encouragement, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of those living every day with Cystic Fibrosis.
Our Great Strides Walk will be held at the Hagerstown Fairgrounds Park on Saturday, May 9, 2026, registration begins at 11am, walking at noon. We would love for you to join our team, Kaelii's Crew.
Your generous gift is vital in supporting CF programs, research, care and education. Fundraisers like the Great Strides Walk raise the dollars necessary to fund life-saving research to cure CF and fund the landmark research that is making a tremendous difference in the lives of those with this disease. Our family is excited to see the innovative research and drug developments to come in the future.
On behalf of our entire family, we thank you in advance for your support and caring. Always remember, together we can make a difference. Every dollar raised helps brings us closer to finding better treatments and ultimately a cure for cystic fibrosis. We are so grateful for her doctors, the many medications and therapies she uses daily so she may accomplish her many hopes and dreams. Please keep Kaelii in your thoughts and prayers as she continues to deal daily with her disease.
