Aloha, friends and family,
I’m Adam, Faith’s 17 year-old brother!
For nearly two decades I’ve lived alongside Faith’s fight against Cystic Fibrosis (CF). My earliest memories involve her countless methods to manage the disease: pills every day, daily treatment to clear her lungs, and frequent doctor visits.
Everything dramatically changed in 2019 with a breakthrough drug called Symdeko. I watched as Faith, who had always needed so much care, suddenly needed less and less. Then in 2021, she started Trikafta, an even more advanced medication, and we all noticed even greater improvement. Why?
“Cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) protein regulates the proper flow of water and chloride in and out of cells lining the lungs and other organs. In people with CF, mutations in the CFTR gene result in either a defective protein being produced or no protein at all. This leads to the buildup of thick, sticky mucus, which can lead to infections in the lungs and damage to the pancreas. It can also lead to problems in other parts of the body. CFTR modulator therapies are designed to correct the malfunctioning protein made by the CFTR gene.” - Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
I noticed that that Faith wasn’t using her vest, her doctor visits became less, and she seemed healthier and freer than ever before. Now, through God’s providence, she is able to pursue her dreams and ambition, almost unhindered by her disease. She has studied abroad and is almost finished with college!
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) is vital in the development of these and other life-saving drugs for Cystic Fibrosis patients like my sister. But so much of the money required to research and produce them comes from fundraising.
On May 10, 2025, our family and other Great Strides Hawaii participants will gather together for the annual CFF Great Strides. Our team is called Have Faith in Faith’s honor and to God’s glory and faithfulness.
My “ask” is that you to help us meet our team fundraising goal of $10,000+. We would be so grateful. Your donation will help Faith and thousands of other CF patients live without disease-caused health constraints.
Though Trikafta has greatly improved Faith’s life, it does not treat all CF mutations. Some patients still suffer through the symptoms Faith had growing up. We fundraise for not just Faith, but for all with CF.
Thank you for your generous support—your contribution will make a meaningful impact. The CFF is committed to being a responsible steward of every dollar raised. As an added benefit, your donation is tax-deductible.
Thank you for supporting the mission of the CFF and helping my sister in her fight against this disease.
God Bless,
Adam Ettlich
