Despite advancements in treatments for Cystic Fibrosis (CF), there is currently no cure and too many people with CF still die far too young. Once again, Simone and I are participating in the annual Great Strides campaign by raising vital funds to support our daughter Celia and others with CF.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that harms the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF can make it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, which can lead to lung damage and even respiratory failure.
It's a challenging disease as there are a multitude of CF genetic mutations - some for which there are cutting-edge treatments and others for which there are not. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
