Salty Curls
Odesa Ditzler is our gorgeous, strong, CF Warrior! 💜 Desi will be 2 years old in June. She was born early, at 36 weeks gestation, in Fabulous Las Vegas, NV. Desi had a bowel obstruction that required immediate surgery. After removing 20cm of her small intestine, she healed up and started feeds. While in the NiCU she had her first exacerbation which required a bronchoscopy that we were able to be bedside for. It was so incredible and really showed us the level of talent we were so lucky to be working with. Dr. Nakamura eased our minds and assured us that Odesa will live a normal life despite her rocky entry. Upon being discharged from the NiCU she had one last surgery to input a GTube to assist with giving extra calories. As much as we wanted the resist another surgery, the GTube has been such a vital tool in her growth.
In May of 2024 our family packed up our house in Las Vegas and moved north to Boise Idaho to be closer to Grammy and Grandpop (Moms parents). It has been an adjustment and an adventure, but we are so happy and grateful to have more support for our girl.
Desi has the brightest personality and we love seeing it develop. She loves Bluey and Ms. Rachel. She’s talking SO much, and continues to blow our minds every day. She is very kind and can be shy at times, but as she warms up, her silliness shows and she is so fun to be around. She isn’t walking just yet (20m) but we know she is well on her way, she just needs to build a bit more confidence. We are so grateful for her PT and OT, Ms. Laurie and Ms. Anna for helping her to gain confidence and to trust herself and her body.
