My Great Strides Story

Fundraising for Lower Hudson Valley Great Strides
Erica And Brian Rice
Dear friends and family
This year has been one of transition. Transitioning to more independence. Transitioning to more inclusion of Brianna’s opinions in decisions made about her health. Transitioning to middle school and what that looks like on paper when it comes to making sure Brianna has access to all of the things she needs with so many players involved in the game.
Brianna has stepped up and handled these transitions, and consequences of some of her choices, with grace.
Last year her friends showed up in droves to the walk a thon. She was surrounded by support and love from people from all areas of her life. The impact it made on her that day was palpable. It was a day to realize that throughout her challenges, she will never every fight alone.
She is doing wonderfully. Trikafta has been a game changer for her. Her latest CF testing showed her salt chloride levels are NORMAL. However, nothing is perfect.. we have learned we need to monitor mental health and liver side effects and pray that we continue to stay on this side of success.
When I think back to Brianna’s diagnosis on October 2, 2013, I never thought we would be here. I never dreamed we would be in a place with the future so colorful and bright. Back then we worried her college fund might one day be needed for a lung transplant. Now we have talks about grad school and beyond.
The future is bright. And it is thanks to you. Your love. Your prayers. Your generosity.
We once again need to reach out to ask for your continued generosity. If you can join us to walk, we would love to have you. If you can help us with a donation, we would be so appreciative.
Thank you, once again.
All our love,
Erica and Brian
