Like any lifelong disease, CF makes life complicated, expensive and just different. The CF foundation has helped Nick and I be able to stress less. Their compass group they have started has helped us understand multiple health insurance plans and which was a best fit for us.
They also helped us find grants that paid for important medication and doctor’s appointments. To put it in perspective, most people our age go to one free well check up appointment at their doctors a year. Nick’s doctor recommends he has a well check up every 3 months. Our insurance company never fully covers his well check ups, we get charged around $400 for each visit. The CF foundation helped us find a grant that covers 2 appointments a year.
Thankfully, Nick’s report every doctors appointment is great, however, that is not the case for many others with CF. They get hit with more bills or recommended more expensive medications. The CF foundation helps them find ways to afford living with CF.
Of course by donating, you can the power to advance the research and science needed to find a cure since the CF foundation does that as well. But more importantly you’d be helping all the individuals, couples and families figure out how to navigate their life with CF.
