My Great Strides Story

Fundraising for Lower Hudson Valley Great Strides 2026
Merrily Holmes
Hello Family and Friends!
I hope you’re doing well!
I wanted to share something personal and important to me. My 6-year-old granddaughter, Luna, has cystic fibrosis—a genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. She’s one of the strongest kids I know, and every year our family rallies around her by participating in the Lower Hudson Valley Great Strides Walk to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
This year, I’m once again joining the team—The Luna League—and helping fundraise alongside my step-daughter and her family.
The walk takes place in May, and all funds raised go directly toward advancing research, improving treatments, and ultimately working toward a cure. Thanks to efforts like this, there have already been incredible breakthroughs—but there’s still more to do.
If you’re in a position to support, I would be incredibly grateful for a donation of any amount. Every dollar truly makes a difference.

There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. I’m walking to help change that reality.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
