Avery's Allies

“She doesn’t look sick.” That’s often the comments we hear when talking about Avery’s cystic fibrosis. And it’s true! She doesn’t look sick and doesn’t act sick. She runs around with her friends, plays three sports, and skis all winter long. However, this year Avery has been a bit sicker than past years. She didn't get over her colds as quickly as normal and had to do several rounds of antibiotics to prevent lung infections. She also had to go back on a couple of nebulized medications, which she had previously been healthy enough to be taken off of. This was very discouraging for Avery and she struggled with it mentally. But even though the mental game has been tough, Avery persevered and stayed vigilant with her medications and daily therapy treatments. And those are only possible because of the incredible work the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has done over the years with donations given to fundraisers like Great Strides.

While we feel so lucky that Avery is as healthy as she can be, we don't know what the future holds and there are still many folks with CF whose lives are claimed too young. That’s why fundraisers like these are so important.
