This will be my 9th year hiking for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, marking the nine years since I lost my best friend to this awful disease. Catherine was an extraordinary person who made friends everywhere she went, had a beautiful family, and left us all far too early. When I stumbled upon the Xtreme Hike shortly after losing Catherine, it gave me a way to remember and honor her, and channel my fresh grief into something positive. In the years since, it has become one of the most meaningful parts of my life. I have seen the huge advances in research that have lead to better treatments and longer lives for people living with CF. I have seen the support that this foundation provides to families fighting this disease, and I have had the honor of working alongside wonderful people devoted to finding a cure for CF.
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. I’m hiking to help change that reality.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
Please consider donating any amount to help me reach my personal goal. It means the world to me--thank you!!
