My Great Strides Story

Fundraising for Metro Detroit Great Strides 2026

There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. I’m walking to help change that reality.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
Our Rose is now 9 years old and works hard every day to stay healthy. She is currently taking at least 20 pills daily, and spends an hour or more every day doing respiratory treatments. This past year has continued to be a struggle keeping Rose healthy enough to go to school each day. She developed some liver injury and since last summer has had to be off of a medication that was really helping her. She is currently in a liver study and we are hoping her experience can help someone else. Despite all this Rose is very much enjoying life. She loves swimming, dancing, playing soccer, and most of all she loves hanging out with her friends. She is always ready for an adventure and loves asking us "What fun thing are we doing next!?" We are so hopeful for a cure so that Rose can continue doing all of the fun things she dreams of!
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
