George's Great Strides Story
Jordan Grimm
Jordan Grimm
We were stunned at George's newborn screening's outcome, which came on Halloween -- especially with no symptoms, no family history, and a seemingly healthy, strong baby. CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that impacts all organs, especially the lungs and pancreas. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure. Here's more on what this individualized, complicated disease is.
We are hopeful that one day soon, it won't be so scary when your friends and family search for what CF means. And we are so grateful that it's much less scary today than it used to be. Especially in the last 5-10 years, there's been incredible momentum in CF treatment, but there is still no cure -- and we won't accept this for our son.
We are optimistic. Optimistic for a day when enzymes aren't needed before every meal to help the pancreas process food. Optimistic for a day when siblings sharing colds isn't a terrifying experience. Optimistic for a world in which breathing is easier and normal, without the use of daily therapies.
Help us end cystic fibrosis.
We would be so grateful if you joined our team in support of George and all the other families who are working hard to mitigate the impact of CF. The CF Foundation will help advance the care and research needed to cure cystic fibrosis.
If you can't join, we would be thrilled with any donations to George's Gang. Please feel free to ask us any questions about George, life with CF and the research underway. We are still learning but raising awareness is so important to our family.
