For two incredible decades, you've stood by my side, unwavering in your support, and generously contributed countless hard earned dollars to the fight for a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. To date, with your help, Team Missy has raised over $600,000 unbelievable dollars! Over the past 20 years the average life expectancy has grown from 31 years old to 62 years old! That is a huge jump and such an awesome outlook for new patients and its all due to vital research (which you helped to fund) that has brought so many awesome medical advancements. Your dedication and kindness have made an immeasurable difference not only in my life, but in the lives of 100,000 people living with this disease worldwide. You have helped to change my life by giving me the greatest gift; more healthy time. In a world with lots of worthwhile causes, I am forever grateful for your continued commitment to fundraise for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
What exactly is cystic fibrosis?
For those of you who may be new here, here's a little more about this disease: CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure. I was diagnosed at just 2 months of age after being deemed 'Failure to Thrive' and given a life expectancy of only 16 years old. I didn't let that estimation stop me and 28 years later I'm still blowing through any hurdles that CF throws at me.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
