My Great Strides Story
David Hoopengardner
Fundraising for Northern Virginia Great Strides
David Hoopengardner
On May 17th I will be participating in the 2025 Northern Virginia Great Strides Walk to end Cystic Fibrosis a member of the BHOOP TEAM. For 20 years my wife Joan and I have been organizing and walking on the BHOOP Team since our middle son, Bryan, died in 2005. This year Bryan would have turned 40 years old.
Great strides have been made in treating this disease, but no cure has been found. When Bryan was born in 1985, 50% of the children lived to age 20. Bryan died 25 days after turning 20. Today, the median age is 50. This is because friends and families have supported the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation with their time, talents and treasures.
I hope you can support us this year. We will be walking on Saturday, 17 May at Ida Lee Park, Leesburg, Virginia. Sign in starts at 9:30 and the walk begins at 10:30. There will be food, music and fun! If you can't be there in person, please help us by making a donation to the BHOOP TEAM.
We hope to see you there!
