Welcome to Reid's Crew! 

I am so happy to report that Reid continues to be really really healthy!  Trikafta truly still feels like a miracle.  Not only is he nowhere near a hospital visit but even clinic visits are a breeze.  His lung function routinely clocks above 110% and he continues to grow like a weed.  Reid is still living with a chronic condition so of course there are struggles, but all of it feels so much more manageable when you're not fighting multiple fronts.  He is living a very active life with school, sports and friends and is rarely slowed down by CF.  He still takes a lot of medications and suffers the consequences when he misses them, but it feels a lot more like we're managing a disease rather than battling one.

Unfortunately, a new battle has presented itself recently that threatens the development of further treatments and our eventual, much dreamed of cure for Reid.  The National Institutes of Health provides critical funding for CF research, we would not be where we are without their support.  NIH grants keep labs running and are the lifeblood of the academic research that has led to all of the drugs that keep Reid healthy.  As funding gets pulled and specialists get fired development will slow down.  We don't have the time to sit and wait while years of clinical expertise walk out the door and trials are stopped midstream.

It is critical to Reid's life (and all our lives really) that science is funded.  I am walking in the Great Strides walk this year as I do each year in support of a cure for my son.  This year especially I ask for your donations to help continue the amazing work of brilliant scientists as I fear more of the burden will fall to us.
