Louis Maffei
Dear Friend,
Thank you for your support in last year’s annual drive to cure Cystic Fibrosis. Once again, I am requesting a donation. For those of you, who don’t know, my daughter, Diana, was diagnosed with this disease in August 1998. Cystic Fibrosis is one of the top genetic killers of children and young adults. A defective gene causes the body to produce abnormally thick and sticky mucus which leads to impaired digestion and chronic and potentially fatal lung infections.
Currently there is no cure. However, since the gene was identified in 1989, remarkable progress has been made, opening the door to new drug treatments and gene therapy. The most recent medication that Diana has benefitted from became available in 2022! As a result of these advances, Diana has been able to excel in her life currently she is an attending Neonatologist fellow at Northwell Health. As a doctor, she is dedicating her life to helping sick babies. She is also a mother of two healthy children.
The CF Foundation is one of the most efficient charitable organizations in the United States.
Last year the Maffei Team finished in the top ten of Nassau County, we raised $8,500. Over the last 25 years, we have raised over $246,270.
Please help us again. Send us a donation.
