This is June, she is 4 years old. June loves music, dancing, animals and playing with her friends. June is independent, energetic and full of spirit. June has cystic fibrosis and fights every day by taking medications and doing treatments to be healthy. June is a warrior and an inspiration to all of us.
A few months ago, a former student of mine with cystic fibrosis, lost her fight at the age of 36. This was a devastating loss to her family and friends. June is fortunate as she is able to use some of the new therapies that have been discovered. Unfortunately, Enid and her brother, Jeremy were not candidates for these medications.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
