My Great Strides Story

Our Fight. Our Hope. Our Walk for a Cure.
Cystic fibrosis has shaped our lives in ways we never imagined. My daughter, Makenzie, is 24 years old, and every single day she shows a level of strength, resilience, and courage that inspires me beyond words. As her parent, I have walked beside her through the challenges, the setbacks, and the small victories that mean everything when you’re living with a disease like CF.
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. It makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to severe lung damage and respiratory failure. There is currently no cure—and too many people with CF still die far too young.
Every person with CF is on their own unique journey. Makenzie’s journey has been filled with treatments, hospital visits, and daily obstacles that most people never have to think about. Yet through it all, she continues to push forward with determination and hope.
We are walking to help change this reality.
While incredible progress has been made, there is still a long road ahead. We dream of a future where Makenzie—and everyone living with cystic fibrosis—has the chance to live a long, healthy, and full life. A future where CF no longer controls lives or limits possibilities.
Will you help us get there?
By donating to our fundraising efforts, you are directly supporting the research and science needed to move us closer to a cure. You are giving hope not just to Makenzie, but to every individual and family fighting this disease.
Together, we can help end cystic fibrosis.
Thank you for standing with us. 💙
