My Great Strides Story
Steve Alpert
Steve Alpert
It is that time of year again, where Bob’s Buddies is preparing for its 19th Great Strides Walk in support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. My (and Grace's) efforts over the years have raised over $95,000 to support Cystic Fibrosis research. With your help this year, I can reach $100,000.
Bob is now 18 and in the fall of '24 he headed off to Rochester Institute of Technology to major in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
Since starting Trikafta 5 years ago, Bob has stayed out of the hospital.
Bob has stayed on a modified dose of Trikafta taking 2/3 the normal dose to keep the side effects at bay. His liver enzymes have come down and the other side effects have eased and it still appears to be a therapeutic level for him.
He only relies only on enzymes to help his digestion.
I continue to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and its research efforts to find the next generation of treatments. In fact, in March, I will receive an Outstanding Great Strides Volunteer Award that is presented to a volunteer that strives to help and support people within the CF community through fundraising, awareness, and dedication to furthering the mission of the CF Foundation.
