Luke Beck
Luke was diagnosed with Atypical CF May 28, 2024 after a tough 2 years of being sick with no answers. After many extensive tests, ER visits, as well as miss diagnosis to try and figure out why he had rare bacterias, wasn't able to catch his breath, had constant coughing and thick mucus especially after doing any type of physical exercise. He rarely feels rested and not exhausted even after getting plenty of sleep & lengthy 3-4hr naps. Luke was diagnosed with Atypical CF at the age of 17 which is very rare. Luke has been the starting goalie for West Genesee Hockey team since he was in 10th grade, he has dedicated his life to hockey and has been dreaming of joining a juniors team and a great D1 school since he was a young kid and this diagnoses flipped his world (along with our whole families’ worlds) upside down. Luke has always been dedicated to his schoolwork and his future, he’s been taking any AP, OCC, and College courses that he could push himself forward in his studies and is planning to go to school for accounting/ financial work after he fully finishes high school. During all of this he stayed committed to his schooling, his hockey team and dreams, as well as his health. He enjoys his job at Jersey Mikes and wants to give back to his community in his future endeavors.
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. I’m climbing to help change that reality.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
