There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. I'm walking to help change that reality.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.

- But most importantly, I walk for my niece Evelyn. Evelyn was diagnosed at two weeks old with cystic fibrosis. I didn't know what to do. And I knew there was a walk for everything so I got online and googled cystic fibrosis walk.
Immediately the Vancouver WA walk popped up because the Portland one had been done and I had missed it, but it was no big deal. I signed up for the 5K walk, a week later there was 10 people on my team and we had raised $1000.
That's where the journey for me started when I got involved with great strides and the cystic fibrosis foundation.
Evelyn is the one who's the big hero she strives to live every day she struggles to breathe digest and just live each moment.
She's my hero. She's the reason why I do this every year. She's the reason I climb 40 flights of stairs in Portland for the fireman climb. And she's the reason I started this team and I will continue to do this for her every year!
She inspires me, in my own life! Because if she can do hard things every day like breathing in and out, I can do hard things every day!
I am proud to be her auntie. I'm proud to help her in this way. I may not help her in her daily life helping with treatments , but I can help her by making her disease known getting people to volunteer, getting people to donate, and getting people to walk so that someday cystic fibrosis Aka CF will stand for cure found! Cause more than anything I want her to be cured of this life-threatening disease!
But as she fights every day, so will I she fights to live I fight for her!
